Dons Undergo Competency-Based Education CBC Curriculum Integration Training

Chuka University Dons have successfully undergone a comprehensive training aimed at integrating the Competency-Based Education (CBE) Curriculum across all nine Faculties and Schools. The Dean Faculty of Education and Resources Development Prof. Eric Mwenda articulates the purpose of the rigorous training was to realign the existing curriculum to adhere to the principles of Competency-Based Education in anticipation of welcoming the first CBE Cohort in 2029. 

 

Prof. Mwenda expressed his satisfaction with the outcome of the training, highlighting the dedication and enthusiasm exhibited by faculty members from various disciplines. “We have successfully achieved our objectives for the CBE training,” he stated, emphasizing the importance of adapting to modern educational paradigms. “All faculties have not only understood but also appreciated the necessity of transitioning from the existing curriculum to the Competency-Based Education Curriculum.”

The training sessions, meticulously designed to impart essential knowledge and skills, covered a wide array of topics crucial for effective curriculum realignment. Faculty members delved into innovative teaching methodologies, assessment strategies, and curriculum design principles tailored to the CBE framework. The two-day workshop spearheaded by the Faculty of Education and Resources Development commenced on May 8th, 2024, and concluded on May 9th, 2024.
