Overview

Faculty of Education and Resources Development (FERD) is one of the six faculties established by the Chuka University Council to offer various Degree and Diploma Programmes in Education. The faculty endeavors to promote academic excellence and holistic transformation for the development of humanity and society by offering competitive, client driven academic programmes. Our programs are engineered to generate, preserve and share knowledge for effective leadership in education sector, training, research and outreach through nurturing an intellectual culture that integrates theory with practice and innovation. The courses in Education are offered both during the semester and School holidays for part-time Programmes. Our undergraduate program provides a unique experience of teacher preparation that provides sound content knowledge, educational foundation knowledge, practical skills and experiences that shape reflective practice in collegial environment. Our on-going goal is to be a distinguished faculty in provision of quality education, training and extension services through teaching, research and innovation for sustainable national and global development. Department

Education

For all students admitted to take educational programmes under Bachelor of Education Arts or Science, you will be expected to choose two teaching subject. It will be mandatory that the selected subject you should have scored at least a C (Plus) in each of the subjects.

It will be mandatory for all Diploma, Undergraduate and PGDE students to go for a teaching practice before completion of the programme. During this period, you will be assessed and this will contribute in the classification of the degree.

It is necessary that all students admitted into the educational courses get conversant with the university Code of Conduct and the Professional Code of Conduct and abide by them during the period of training and thereof.
