Faculty of Agriculture Launches New Academic Programmes

The Faculty of Agriculture (FAGRI) officially launched new academic programmes under the Accelerating the Impact of CGIAR Climate Research for Africa (AICCRA) initiative. Developed in collaboration with Alliance Bioversity International & CIAT and Chuka University, the event was graced by the University Management, led by the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Henry Mutembei. 

The newly unveiled programmes include:

  • Bachelor of Science in Crop Protection and Management
  • Bachelor of Science in Landscaping and Ornamental Horticulture
  • Master of Science in Agro-ecology and Climate Change

The programmes align with FAGRI’s niche which is to extend creative climate-smart farming solutions to increase agribusiness and agricultural product value addition to create wealth and sustainable development.

In his remarks, Prof. Mutembei expressed his excitement about the new academic programmes and applauded the teams involved in their development. He also urged AICCRA to continue supporting FAGRI by participating in curriculum reviews, providing attachment and internship opportunities for Chuka University students, organizing training sessions and public lectures and collaborating on joint research proposals and projects.
