Empowering Dons

The second day of the comprehensive training on digital education brought together lecturers from the School of Nursing and Public Health, the Faculty of Education and Resource Development, and the Faculty of Science and Technology. The training was organized by the Directorate of Open Distance and E-Learning (ODEL) in collaboration with the Library and the Faculty of Science. It aimed to enhance lecturers’ digital teaching skills and ensure they effectively integrate technology, online resources, and virtual learning platforms into their teaching.
The day’s sessions featured in-depth presentations by experts on key aspects of digital education. Prof. Paul Kamweru led a session on “Current Issues in Artificial Intelligence in Education,” exploring the impact and implications of AI in modern teaching and learning. Prof. Joseph Kavulya provided insights on “Accessing Digital Library Resources,” ensuring lecturers effectively utilize online academic materials for their courses.
Ms. Jane Mumbi conducted an interactive session on “Developing Audio-Visuals for Online Classes,” equipping participants with essential skills to create engaging digital content for students. Additionally, Mr. Briston Barasa and Mr. Dennis Bundi guided lecturers through “Accessing Modules, CATs, and Assignments in the Learning Management System” and demonstrated how to use KENNET Conferencing for Online Classes to facilitate virtual learning sessions.
