Under the International Atomic Energy Agency Livestock Project Kenyan Technical Cooperation grant Project led by Prof. Henry Mutembei who is also the Vice-Chancellor of Chuka University, two technologist staff (Jedidah Kariuki from Chuka University and Alice Kinyua of University of Nairobi) are currently being trained in Vienna International Centre laboratory on state of the art technologies on animal breeding. The project was designed to capacity build (infrastructure and human) to enhance food security via use of nuclear safe energy technologies or what is now commonly being advanced as Atoms for food Agenda.
Prof. Mutembei will be joining the team this month for a week on supervisory role and on a further mission to explore options of continued collaboration between Chuka University and International Atomic Energy Agency.
The current 100M Project has also provided assorted equipment to Chuka University. The team is thankful to IAEA and government of Kenya for supporting the project
