The Public Health Officers and Technicians Council (PHOTC), a statutory body mandated to regulate the training and practice of Public Health Officers and Technicians in Kenya, carried out a comprehensive re-inspection of the Chuka University BSc. in Public Health academic programme. The PHOTC team was led by the Chairman of the Training Committee, Dr. John Kariuki, assisted by Prof. Mohamed Karama and other members from PHOTC.
On the other hand, the Chuka University team was led by the DVC (ARSA), Prof. Gilbert Nduru, and the DVC (AFP&D), Prof. Jonah Kindiki, with the School of Nursing and Public Health represented by the Dean, Prof. Lucy Gitonga, the COD, and lecturers from the Public Health section.
The re-inspection took place at Chuka University with the aim of assessing the programme’s compliance with quality standards for training public health professionals. PHOTC expressed satisfaction with the efforts made by Chuka University in ensuring compliance with these standards and acknowledged the institution’s commitment to recognizing, indexing, and licensing BSc in Public Health students trained at Chuka University.
