The Office of the Director of Quality Assurance and the Office of Career Services and Mentorship held an insightful Academic Advising and Mentorship training. The event was officially opened by the DVC (ARSA), Gilbert Nduru, who emphasized the vital role mentorship plays in shaping the academic and career success of students.
The keynote speaker, Mr. Robert Kahiga, a seasoned Career Advisor and Counsellor at Kenyatta University, shared his vast expertise with the audience on the importance of cultivating strong advisor-mentee relationships. He also provided valuable insights into navigating academic challenges and offered effective strategies for guiding students through difficult decisions, ensuring they have the necessary support to thrive in both their academic and personal journeys.
The training was organized to equip dons with the essential tools and knowledge required for effective academic advising and mentorship, while also enhancing their ability to support students in achieving their academic and career aspirations. It aimed to foster a more nurturing, supportive, and productive learning environment.
