Advancing Green Energy: Chuka University at the Forefront of Clean Energy Innovation

Prof. Paul Kuria Kamweru, Dean of the Faculty of Science and Technology, took part in a National-Level Training of Trainers (ToT) workshop on Renewable Power-to-X (PtX) technologies, held from April 22nd to 25th, 2025.
The workshop, facilitated by GIZ in collaboration with National and International energy stakeholders, aimed to build capacity and enhance knowledge in green hydrogen and renewable PtX solutions. It brought together key players in the energy sector to explore the role of PtX technologies in Kenya’s sustainable energy transition.
A major highlight of the event was a site visit to Talus Renewables in Naivasha, home to Kenya’s first green ammonia plant. The visit provided participants with firsthand insights into the practical implementation of renewable hydrogen technologies and PtX innovations.
During the four-day event, participants engaged in core sessions covering PtX production processes, electrolyser technology, economic modeling, sustainability frameworks, and Kenya’s Green Hydrogen Strategy. The workshop also featured interactive group exercises, scenario-building activities, and policy dialogue sessions aimed at aligning PtX innovations with the Kenyan context.
Prof. Kamweru’s participation reflects Chuka University’s strong commitment to research, innovation, and leadership in clean energy and sustainable development.
