A Hero’s Welcome Home

Today, Chuka University proudly celebrated the homecoming of John Tingoi, a fourth-year Computer Science student whose brilliance has placed our institution and Kenya on the global map.

John recently returned from Singapore, where he emerged as the Second Runner-Up in the WorldQuant International Quant Championship (IQC) 2025, a competition that brought together nearly 80,000 participants worldwide.

From conquering the Kenya National Finals among 9,000 contestants to securing a global top-three spot, John’s journey is one of resilience, intellect, and innovation.

During the colorful ceremony held on campus, the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Henry Mutembei, lauded John’s exceptional performance, calling it “a proud moment that affirms Chuka University’s rising influence in science, technology, and innovation.”

The Department of Computer Science, led by Prof. David Mwathi, also celebrated this milestone — highlighting how departmental mentorship programs, hackathons, and partnerships with Teach2Give, TheJitu, and HealthIT have helped shape young innovators like John.

From his humble beginnings in a Maasai rural community to shining on the world stage, John’s story embodies the true spirit of Chuka University — Transforming Lives through Education and Opportunity.
