Building Road Safety Competence Among University Drivers

The University conducted a comprehensive drivers’ capacity-building programme aimed at enhancing competence and promoting road safety. The initiative brought together University drivers to strengthen their skills in line with modern driving standards and regulatory requirements.

The training focused on the modern driver mindset, emphasizing attitudes, risk perception, emotional control, and defensive driving skills. Participants were also guided on managing technology-related distractions, understanding vehicle dynamics, and responding effectively to emergency situations.

The session further addressed the safety of vulnerable road users, driving under special conditions, and compliance with GVCU regulations and the Kenya Traffic Act, reinforcing the University’s commitment to safety, professionalism, and responsible driving on public roads.
