Chuka University has reinforced its commitment to academic excellence and industry relevance through a media career talk themed “Reimagining Journalism in the Digital Age: How Digital Media is Reshaping the Industry,” organized by the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences under the Media Section.
The forum brought together industry experts to equip students with practical knowledge on digital journalism, emerging media trends, and career opportunities in broadcast, print, and multimedia platforms. Discussions focused on the shift to digital newsrooms, audience engagement, and the growing impact of technology on content production.
The Meru Regional Coordinator of the Media Council of Kenya, Mr. Jackson Karanja, emphasized the importance of accuracy, fairness, and ethical reporting in combating misinformation and maintaining public trust. He encouraged students to responsibly integrate Artificial Intelligence (AI) and digital tools into their practice to enhance efficiency while upholding professional standards.
Students also received guidance on media career pathways, accreditation requirements, and industry expectations, underscoring the University’s efforts to bridge academic training with the evolving demands of the media industry.
