University Leadership Holds Ongoing Strategic Plan Review Retreat in Naivasha

Chuka University’s top leadership is currently convened in Naivasha for a Strategic Plan Review Retreat aimed at evaluating progress and strengthening the institution’s future direction.
The retreat, taking place at the KPC Morendat Training Conference Centre, brings together the University Council chaired by Prof. David Serem, and the University Management team led by Vice-Chancellor Prof. Henry Mutembei. The engagement focuses on reviewing the implementation of the University’s 2022–2027 Strategic Plan and ensuring alignment with institutional priorities. During the ongoing sessions, participants are assessing performance across key strategic areas, identifying challenges encountered, and proposing practical interventions to sustain momentum. The discussions are centred on strengthening accountability, enhancing innovation in teaching, research, and community service, and aligning outcomes with the University’s vision.
The leadership is also engaging in forward-looking discussions on emerging opportunities shaping higher education, including artificial intelligence, government policy directives on institutional self-sustainability, innovation ecosystems, and the commercialization of research outputs.
Further, the retreat is laying the foundation for the next Strategic Plan cycle (2027–2032), with emphasis on resource optimization, strategic partnerships, and value creation to support long-term growth and institutional impact. The ongoing engagement underscores Chuka University’s commitment to strategic leadership, excellence, and sustainable transformation in service to the nation.
