Science Takes Center Stage at Chuka University Seminar

Beakers of knowledge and sparks of curiosity filled the air as the Faculty of Science and Technology hosted a dynamic Biomedical Science and Biochemistry Students Seminar. The seminar brought together students, lecturers, and researchers for an engaging afternoon of insight and discovery.

The seminar created a vibrant platform for learners to interact with experts in biomedical and biochemical fields, while exploring emerging trends in research, innovation, and career development. Keynote remarks by Prof. Paul Kamweru underscored the critical role of scientific research in addressing global health challenges. This was followed by expert presentations from Dr. Angela Makumi, Dr. Francis Wanyama, and Onesmus Maithya.

Dr. Makumi shared insights on bacteriophage research and its application in combating antimicrobial resistance in livestock, while Dr. Wanyama highlighted advances in molecular medicine and the growing burden of gynecological cancers. Onesmus Maithya presented innovative, sustainable approaches in food science, focusing on bio-based material development. Participants actively engaged in discussions after each session, reflecting strong interest in the practical applications of scientific research.
