A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) has been signed between the University and the National Biosafety Authority (NBA) to strengthen collaboration in biosafety education, research, innovation, and capacity building. The signing, which marked the beginning of a strategic partnership between the two institutions, was graced by the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Henry Mutembei, and Dr. Ann Karimi, Ag. Chief Executive Officer of the National Biosafety Authority.
The partnership will provide a framework for joint research, curriculum development, grant proposal development, training, and public engagement. It will also create opportunities for students and staff through internships, industrial attachments, mentorship programmes, biosafety summer schools, and collaborative research initiatives.
Speaking during the signing, Prof. Henry Mutembei described the partnership as a significant milestone that will strengthen research and innovation, enhance practical training, and foster stronger linkages between academia and industry.
