Chuka University is pleased to announce that Dr. Martin Mule Mutie, a Lecturer in the Department of Physical Sciences, has been awarded a prestigious KES 4.3 million small grant under the Development in Africa with Radio Astronomy (DARA) Research Scheme.
The competitive award will support the establishment of a state-of-the-art radio astronomy research workstation and facilitate advanced research in the analysis of data from leading international radio telescopes, including MeerKAT, the European VLBI Network (EVN), and Very Long Baseline Interferometry (VLBI) facilities. The project is expected to contribute significantly to scientific knowledge in astronomy and astrophysics while building research capacity at Chuka University.
The newly established workstation will provide a high-performance computing platform for radio astronomy data processing, postgraduate research, and collaborative projects, positioning Chuka University to actively participate in regional and international initiatives supporting the Square Kilometre Array (SKA) and related scientific programmes. Chuka university extends its congratulations to the DARA Principal Investigator Prof. Melvin Hoare from University of Leeds for partnering and affirming the University’s role in research and global partnerships.
