AIESEC in Chuka Celebrates 10 Years of Impactful Leadership

On February 15th, 2025, AIESEC in Chuka commemorated a decade of transformative leadership at a vibrant and successful dinner at Three Steers Hotel in Meru. AIESEC is a global platform for young people to explore and develop their leadership potential. With a mission to empower the next generation of leaders, AIESEC provides youth with opportunities to engage in cross-cultural exchanges, leadership development programs, and social impact initiatives. Through its portfolios, AIESEC in Chuka has cultivated leadership skills, facilitated global exchanges, and fostered long-lasting partnerships, creating an environment where young leaders are able to thrive.

The evening, organized by the committee brought together AIESEC members, alumni, stakeholders, and key supporters, including the Patron Ms. Miriam Njagi and the Board of Advisors. Throughout the event, attendees reflected on the growth and achievements of AIESEC in Chuka, celebrating the continuous support from alumni and partnerships with organizations like The University and Zayre Gadgets. This collaboration has significantly shaped the leadership and member experience, both within the university and beyond.

The leadership team for the 2024/2025 term, under the direction of Lavin Asami (Local Chapter President) and supported by dedicated team members Sammy John (Local Chapter Vice President, Finance, Legalities, and Administration), Caroline Mwangi (Team Director, University and Alumni Relations), Deluxe Sande (Team Director, Marketing and Public Relations), Ruth Njambi (Team Director, Outgoing Exchange), showcased the power of virtual coordination in creating a lasting impact. Despite the challenges, the team was able to host impactful initiatives such as the Exchange Drive, recruitment campaigns, mental health walk, Ndagani cleanup, and team-building activities.

Each of the portfolios plays a key role in shaping the success of AIESEC in Chuka. The Local Chapter President oversees the entire chapter, ensuring the implementation of AIESEC’s global mission. The Finance, Legalities, and Administration portfolio manages financial operations, legal matters, and administrative functions, while University and Alumni Relations builds and maintains connections with the university and AIESEC alumni for continuous support. Marketing and Public Relations drives strategic marketing efforts, public relations, and communications. The Outgoing Exchange portfolio facilitates international opportunities, including volunteer programs, internships, and teaching experiences, enabling students to gain cross-cultural exposure. Lastly, Member Experience focuses on ensuring a positive and impactful journey for members, fostering both personal and professional development within AIESEC.

As AIESEC in Chuka moves into its next phase, the 2025/2026 leadership team—led by Caroline Mwangi (Local Chapter President), Deluxe Sande (Vice President, Marketing and Public Relations), Ruth Njambi (Vice President, Outgoing Exchange), Christine Muita (Vice President, University and Alumni Relations), Eryjoy Wahome (Vice President, Finance, Legalities, and Administration), and Gift Wendo (Vice President, Member Experience)—is entrusted with the responsibility of taking the organization to even greater heights. The dinner served as a stepping stone for this seamless leadership transition, ensuring a continued legacy of collaboration and success.
