Chuka Law Students Light Up Embu Prison

Books, briefs, and a bit of football, School of Law students brought all three to Embu Main Prison on 22nd November 2025 during their maiden educational trip in partnership with the Kenya Prisons Service. The students conducted a free legal aid clinic, offering inmates guidance on appeals, ongoing court matters, and legal rights. The exercise provided crucial support to incarcerated individuals while giving the students hands-on exposure to criminal justice processes. Prison paralegal officers praised the initiative and requested a long-term partnership with the School of Law to strengthen training, facilitation, and capacity-building for inmate legal teams. The visit also featured a friendly football match between the students, inmates, and prison staff, a gesture that fostered camaraderie and highlighted the role of sports in rehabilitation. The outreach reinforces the School’s commitment to experiential learning, community service, and expanding access to justice for underserved populations.
