Chuka Students Step into Policy and Leadership Through KIPPRA Programme

Chuka University, in partnership with the Kenya Institute for Public Policy Research and Analysis (KIPPRA), hosted a two-day Mentorship Programme for Universities and TVETs aimed at equipping students with public policy, leadership and career development skills. The programme, opened by Vice-Chancellor Prof. Henry Mutembei brought together academia and policy practitioners to nurture future policy leaders. The first day focused on the public policy-making process, national values and youth empowerment through presentations and a lecturers’ panel discussing how universities can support innovation and talent monetization.

On the second day, sessions covered professional development, entrepreneurship and youth talent institutionalization through presentations by the Public Service Commission and SME Support Center, a multi-agency panel on integrating youth talents into public planning and budgeting, and a talk by the County Government of Tharaka Nithi on leveraging devolution for socioeconomic transformation. Additional discussions by NACADA and the National Crime Research Centre emphasized healthy living and positive character. The programme concluded with a closing ceremony and recognition of participating students.
