Chuka University Selected as Host Institution for DAAD In-Country Scholarship Programme

Chuka University has been selected by the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) as a host institution for the In-Country/In-Region Scholarship Programme in Sub-Saharan Africa, following a successful application led by Prof. Paul Kuria Kamweru and Prof. Moses Muraya. Out of 416 degree tracks evaluated across the region, the University’s Master of Science in Plant Breeding was among the 17 programmes approved for participation.
Rooted in Biology, Genetics, Biochemistry, and Plant Sciences, the programme integrates molecular genetics and biotechnological techniques with applied crop improvement strategies. Successful students will benefit from tuition fee coverage and stipends provided by DAAD, enabling Chuka University to attract outstanding postgraduate students from across Sub-Saharan Africa. This collaboration strengthens the University’s role as a regional centre of excellence in agricultural and biological sciences, promoting innovation, sustainable agriculture, and food security across the continent
