Dairy Feeds Assessment for Post-COVID-19 Economic Recovery

Dons from the Faculty of Agriculture held a dissemination workshop to present findings on dairy feeds assessment in Tharaka Nithi and Meru counties. The event, titled “Economic Recovery from the Impact of COVID-19 on the Agri-Food Value Chain in Kenya,” focused on evaluating the challenges and opportunities in the dairy sector.

The workshop, funded by the Italian Agency for Development, highlighted key findings on the quality, availability, and economic implications of dairy feeds in the region. Experts discussed how the COVID-19 pandemic disrupted the agricultural value chain, affecting farmers, suppliers, and stakeholders in the dairy industry.

The results collected from 20 dairy agri-producer cooperative groups involving 105 select farmers were presented to farmers and other stakeholders from the two counties

Stakeholders, including researchers, policymakers, and dairy farmers, attended the workshop, engaging in discussions on strategies to improve dairy feed production, accessibility, and sustainability. The assessment report provided insights aimed at enhancing economic resilience and ensuring food security in the post-pandemic era.
