Two delegates, Natalia NEAU, Director of Languages, International and Culture, and Babacar Thioye, Associate Professor from Institut Polytechnique UniLaSalle in France, paid a courtesy call to Vice-Chancellor Prof. Henry Mutembei to explore collaboration opportunities for a student exchange program. As part of this initiative, they plan to bring their students to study in the Department of Animal Science during the September–December semester of 2025. The visiting students will have the opportunity to learn alongside Chuka University students and will be assessed accordingly.
The Vice-Chancellor expressed strong support for the initiative, noting that it would foster institutional partnership and provide valuable opportunities for both students and staff from Chuka University to engage in exchange programs at UniLaSalle. He emphasized the importance of global exposure in academic development and encouraged further collaboration in areas such as joint research initiatives in agricultural sciences beyond animal health. The institutions could collaborate on projects in areas like sustainable agriculture, crop science, and agricultural technology. He also suggested developing experiential learning opportunities for students interested in these fields, providing them with hands-on experience while working with international peers.
Additionally, the Vice-Chancellor emphasized the importance of student and staff participation in joint research conferences and collaborative publications, which would strengthen academic ties and elevate the global visibility of research outcomes.
The university is currently hosting Nathan Machefaux from Institut Polytechnique UniLaSalle for a semester-long exchange program, running from January 18 to May 9, 2025, in the Department of Animal Science. His presence marks a key step forward in strengthening the relationship between the two institutions, laying a solid foundation for enriched academic collaboration and intercultural exchange.
