Fostering Global Collaboration with Tuskegee University

Dr. Munene Nderi, a Don from the Department of Animal Sciences, participated in a faculty exchange trip to Tuskegee University in Alabama, USA, from January 8, 2023, to May 3, 2023.  Dr. Nderi acquired valuable skills in curriculum development and review, as well as expertise in sperm assessment using computer-assisted semen analysis (CASA) machines. Additionally, he gained proficiency in fundable research grant writing and apiculture. Upon his return, Dr. Nderi shared his newfound knowledge and skills with fellow faculty members, fostering a culture of learning and growth within the Chuka University community. As a result of this collaboration, a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) was established between the College of Veterinary Medicine at Tuskegee University and the Faculty of Agriculture, Chuka University. The MOU will serve as a framework for fostering research collaborations and facilitating the exchange of staff and students between the two institutions, promoting a fruitful partnership in research.
