Law Students Clinch Victory in Moot Court Competition

In a display of exceptional legal acumen and prowess, Chuka University Law students emerged triumphant in the 1st Annual Africa Climate Legal Alliance (ACLA) Climate Justice moot court competition at University of Embu on March 01, 2024. Showcasing their expertise and dedication to excellence the students swept through all preliminary rounds with finesse. The team faced University of Nairobi in the semi-finals before advancing to the final showdown against Kabarak University. In an intense battle of legal arguments and presentation skills, the law students emerged victorious as the Best Team, claiming the prestigious trophy. Among the standout performers were Joy Kananu, a first-year student, who clinched the title of Best Female Oralist, and Meshack Yegon, also a first-year student, who secured the second position for Best Male Oralist. Adding to the team’s accolades, Rebecca Deche, a third-year student, earned recognition as the third-best researcher in the competition. Other participating institutions included Embu University, Kisii University, and Riara University, all contributing to the enriching experience of the event.
