Chuka University’s academic and research resources have received a major boost following the delivery of 19,000 new book volumes from the Books for Africa Foundation. The consignment, received on June 14, 2025, marks a significant milestone in the university’s efforts to expand access to quality learning materials across disciplines. The books cover a broad range of subject areas, including engineering, health sciences, literature, communication, French, law, business management, accounting, finance, physical sciences, and social sciences—positioning the university to better support teaching, learning, and research. Speaking during the reception of the books, University Librarian Prof. Joseph Kavulya described the donation as a transformative addition to the university’s knowledge base. He noted that the materials would help close gaps in subject coverage and strengthen the institution’s academic competitiveness. Prof. Kavulya also commended the ongoing partnership with the Books for Africa Foundation, calling it a model of impactful international collaboration in higher education. The Library Department has already commenced the cataloguing and shelving of the new titles, with a structured rollout plan in place to make the books accessible by the beginning of the next semester. The successful acquisition reflects effective resource mobilization efforts by the Library in collaboration with university management.
