Congratulations to Mitchel Akinyi Awiti, a third-year Nursing student at Chuka University, for being selected as one of the three finalists and winning the prestigious Nursing Now Challenge Global Solutions Initiative (NNCGSI) challenge.
In October 2024, the challenge, in collaboration with the Sabin Vaccine Institute’s Global HPV Consortium, was launched to develop innovative solutions for the prevention, detection and treatment of HPV and cervical cancer, while addressing challenges nurses and midwives face in promoting preventive services. Mitchel’s passion for healthcare innovation, community engagement and student advocacy led her to this incredible achievement. She will now have the opportunity to present her solutions at the upcoming Global HPV Consortium Partners’ Meeting, where she will meet key stakeholders in the healthcare field.
Mitchel, who is also the Media Team Director of the Chuka University Nursing Students Association and holds leadership roles in several student organizations, aspires to be a Community Health Nurse and researcher, dedicated to making a lasting impact on healthcare.
