Research Out of the Lab, Solutions Into the Farm

Chuka University, together with Tharaka University, Embu University, Murang’a University of Technology and Egerton University, participated in a discussion led by the Rotooba Institute, the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) and the National Association of State Departments of Agriculture (NASDA) to advance deliberations on the development of a functional farmer–University extension model for improved agricultural productivity and profitability.

The discussions explored opportunities for collaboration in piloting and upscaling an effective mechanism for transferring research outputs and innovations from universities to farming communities. The proposed model seeks to strengthen linkages between researchers and farmers, enabling the testing, refinement and adoption of practical, research-based solutions that respond to farmers’ needs while improving productivity and profitability.
