During the lecture, Senior Counsel Kanjama focused on key topics essential for young legal aspirants. He encouraged students to establish themselves in activities that go beyond their legal careers, such as engaging in leadership roles in clubs and sports. “Building yourself outside of the classroom is just as important as academic success,” he noted.
Senior Counsel Kanjama also emphasized the importance of time management, urging students to act on their potential now in order to realize their dreams. He highlighted the significance of balancing emotional, social, and intellectual quotients, advising that success requires persistence and patience.
The Senior Counsel further spoke on the four cardinal virtues vital for success: Prudence, Justice, Self-control, and Courage. He explained that Prudence involves making wise, meaningful choices; Justice is about consistently giving others what they are due; Self-control requires understanding personal limits; and Courage is the determination to pursue one’s goals despite challenges.
In closing, Senior Counsel Kanjama urged the young lawyers in attendance to remain focused on their visions, practice integrity, and excel in their personal values and virtues. He also encouraged them to pursue careers they love, learn from their mistakes, and stay open to seeking and offering help.
The event concluded with a vote of thanks from Mrs. Grace Karimi, a lecturer from the School of Law, expressing gratitude to Senior Counsel Kanjama for his enlightening presentation and to all those who attended. The lecture was seen as an invaluable opportunity for students to gain mentorship and guidance from a distinguished figure in the legal profession.
