School of Nursing and Public Health Inaugural Research Conference

On 13th March, the School of Nursing and Public Health held its inaugural International Research Conference on the theme “Global Health Challenges and Solutions: Lessons from Around the World.” The Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Henry Mutembei, officially opened the conference for a fruitful day of discussions. The Conference served as a platform for networking, collaboration, and knowledge exchange, fostering a sense of unity in tackling health issues worldwide. Attendees engaged in insightful discussions, sharing their expertise and experiences structured on the sub-themes:

  2. Health policy and advocacy: Shaping the future of healthcare
  3. Impact of climate change on health
  4. The role of public health in pandemic preparedness and response
  5. Mental health and well-being: a public health imperative
  6. Expanding adolescent sexual health and reproductive health in universities
  7. Health Technologies and Innovations
  8. Sanitation, water safety and health
  9. Gender and health
  10. Nutrition and health

 

Reflecting on the success of the Conference, Prof. Lucy Gitonga, Dean School of Nursing and Public Health, expressed her satisfaction with the turnout and quality of discussions and looks forward to continue to foster dialogue, innovation and excellence in health care research and practice on an international scale. As the conference came to a close, participants departed with newfound inspiration and a renewed commitment to collaborate in tackling the multifaceted challenges facing global health today.
