A delegation from Umma University visited Chuka University for a benchmarking exercise focused on timetabling, class attendance, and examination administration. The visit provided an opportunity for Umma University officials to gain practical insights into the structures, tools, and strategies employed by Chuka University in managing academic schedules and examinations. During the session, the delegation explored key areas including lecture and class timetabling across faculties and programs, examination timetabling and administration, digital systems and software used in the scheduling process, conflict resolution and resource optimization such as room allocation and lecturer availability, and stakeholder engagement in academic scheduling.
The exchange allowed participants to examine digital innovations, best practices in fairness and transparency, and strategies for managing last-minute changes in academic schedules. The visiting team from Umma University comprised the Senior Assistant Registrar (Examinations), a Quality Assurance Officer, and an ICT Officer/System Administrator. The visit also paved the way for establishing a collaborative link between the two institutions for continued knowledge sharing and partnership in academic administration.
