Uniting for a Greener Future

In an era of climate uncertainty, World Environment Day celebrated on June 5, served as a reminder of both progress and failures. Chuka University joined the global community in marking World Environment Day 2025 under the theme “Ending Plastic Pollution”, with a powerful community-led initiative aimed at environmental restoration and climate action.

The event brought together over 1,200 students, faculty members, local leaders, high school and primary school students, with spirited participation from the university’s Faculty of Environmental Studies and the Wildlife Clubs of Kenya.

Prof. Gilbert Nduru, DVC Academic, Research, and Student Affairs, emphasized the urgent need to tackle plastic pollution. He reaffirmed the university’s commitment to sustainability through academic integration, student innovation, and community clean-ups, urging all stakeholders to take collective responsibility in ending plastic waste.
