The management team of Chuka University, under the leadership of Vice-Chancellor Prof. Henry Mutembei, held a highly engaging visit to Chogoria Campus, fostering an open dialogue with students and staff on various matters affecting student welfare. The meeting, which was hosted by the Campus Director, Prof. Humphrey Kirimi, brought to light several key issues that are pivotal to the academic and social well-being of the campus community.
During the visit, Prof. Mutembei and the University Management addressed pressing concerns raised by students, including improvements in accommodation, expansion of WiFi access, restocking of the library, enhanced security measures, and better student support services. The Vice-Chancellor reaffirmed the university’s commitment to addressing these issues, pledging to take immediate steps to fulfil the students’ requests.
“We are committed to creating a conducive environment for academic excellence and personal growth. Your concerns are valid, and I assure you that my team and I will work diligently to address them,” Prof. Mutembei stated.
On security, Prof. Mutembei urged students to remain vigilant and collaborate with the university’s security personnel to ensure a safe learning environment. “Your safety is our priority, and we encourage you to take personal responsibility while relying on the robust security measures we have in place,” he emphasized.
The students lauded the administration for organizing the open discussion, highlighting that it was a rare opportunity to engage directly with the university’s leadership. “We feel valued and heard. The Vice-Chancellor’s willingness to address our issues is a testament to his dedication to our well-being,” said one of the student representatives.
“This visit reflects the university’s dedication to inclusivity and shared governance. We look forward to implementing the resolutions discussed today,” Prof. Kirimi remarked.
The visit concluded with a tour of the campus, where the Vice-Chancellor inspected facilities and interacted with students informally. The initiative is part of the university’s ongoing effort to enhance student welfare and ensure the institution remains a leader in providing quality education and fostering holistic development.
