Varsity Students Shine at Young Change Makers Seminar

On Saturday, February 22, the Faculty of Environmental Studies and Resources Development hosted the “Young Change Makers Seminar”. The national academic annual seminar is an inter-university and college forum and was facilitated by the Sustainable Tourism and Travel Agenda (STTA), a non-governmental organization advocating for sustainable tourism across Africa.

The event brought together students from Chuka University, Machakos University, Murang’a University, and Michuki Technical College, alongside officials from STTA, Giraffe Center, and A Few Africa. Our students presented on “Sustainable Tourism Innovations in Africa from 2017 to 2025”, a topic that highlighted key advancements in the sector. Their presentation stood out, earning them the top position among participants.

Several faculty members attended the seminar, including Dr. Bernard Soi AG COD Department of Environmental Studies and Resources Development, Dr. Jaford Rithaa the faculty Dean, and tourism lecturers Dr. Lemmy Mureti, Ms. Scholastica Nzomo, Mr. Gideon Biwott, and Ms. Quinter Otieno. The seminar provided a platform for students to exchange ideas, network with industry experts, and reinforce their commitment to sustainable tourism.
