Opening Doors to Government Tenders

A room filled with ambition, curiosity and business ideas came alive today as the university hosted an Access to Government Procurement Opportunities (AGPO) training aimed at empowering youth, women and persons living with disabilities to tap into government business opportunities.

The training, organized by the university’s Procurement Office, was officially opened by the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Henry Mutembei, who challenged participants to move beyond job-seeking and position themselves as innovators, entrepreneurs and suppliers capable of competing in public procurement spaces.

Throughout the training, the main facilitator, Mr. Geoffrey Sankui and facilitators from the Procurement Office guided participants through AGPO registration procedures, tender application processes, compliance requirements and practical strategies for winning government contracts. Interactive discussions and real-life examples gave attendees a clearer understanding of how to navigate procurement systems with confidence.

The training attracted students, staff and other stakeholders eager to learn how to access the 30 per cent government procurement reservation set aside for youth, women and persons living with disabilities.
