The National Syndemic Diseases Control Council (NSDCC), in collaboration with the Office of the Member of Parliament for Chuka Igambang’ombe Constituency, Hon. Patrick Munene, convened a community sensitization forum at St. Peter Catholic Parish, Kajuki, as part of efforts to address the Triple Threat of new HIV infections, teenage pregnancies, and sexual and gender-based violence.
During the forum, Dr. Juster Munguria, Chairperson of Chuka University’s AIDS Control Unit, facilitated sessions on HIV prevention, testing, treatment adherence, stigma and discrimination, myths and misconceptions, and teenage pregnancy prevention.
Participants were encouraged to strengthen parental guidance, embrace regular HIV testing, adhere to treatment, and promote collective action in addressing the constituency’s teenage pregnancy rate, currently estimated at 18.5%.
