Chuka University KUSU Branch Elect New Officials

Members of the Kenya Universities Staff Union (KUSU) have elected a new team of branch officials in an exercise that reaffirmed the union’s commitment to democratic leadership and staff representation.
The elections were conducted in accordance with KUSU regulations and provided members with an opportunity to participate in a transparent and orderly voting process. Staff members turned out to cast their ballots and choose leaders who will guide the union’s affairs at the branch level.

Following the election, Mr. Daniel Wandera was elected Branch Secretary and will be deputized by Mr. Denis Rugendo. Dr. Fredrick Ogolla was elected Branch Chairperson, with Mr. Martin Mutwiri serving as Vice Chairperson. Other officials elected include Mr. Eric Gitonga as Treasurer and Ms. Linet Gacheri as Deputy Treasurer. Ms. Ruth Muturi was elected Women Representative, Ms. Jedidah Kariuki will serve as Organizing Secretary, while Mr. Martin Kinoti was elected Trustee.

Speaking after the announcement of the results, Mr. Wandera thanked union members for the trust they had placed in the new leadership team. “We appreciate the confidence members have shown in us. Our focus will be to strengthen staff representation, promote unity among members, and work collaboratively to address issues affecting staff welfare,” he said.

The University congratulates the newly elected officials and wishes them success in their leadership roles. The institution remains confident that their commitment will strengthen staff engagement and contribute positively to the growth of the university community.
