The Commission for University Education (CUE) delegation, led by Dr. David Muthaka, conducted a courtesy visit to the institution as part of their efforts to evaluate the impact of disruptive technologies on higher education in Kenya. The team was warmly welcomed by the university’s management, the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Administration, Finance, Planning & Development), Prof. Jonah Kindiki, at the helm.
Alongside Dr. Muthaka, other members included Mr. Clifford Njuguna, Mr. Murithi Njeru, and Mr. Pius Walela. The purpose of their visit was to undertake a research study focused on how universities are responding to the challenges and opportunities presented by emerging technologies such as online learning platforms, Artificial Intelligence (AI), and Virtual Reality (VR).
As part of this initiative, the delegation engaged in focus group discussions with faculty members, staff, and students to gain a comprehensive understanding of the university’s technological integration and the broader implications for teaching, learning, and administrative functions. The insights gathered during these discussions will be instrumental in shaping future policies and strategies aimed at leveraging technology to enhance the quality and accessibility of education in Kenyan universities.
