Exploring contemporary issues in agricultural financing and the law, the Faculty of Law hosted CPA Samuel Mutunga from the Agricultural Financing Corporation, on February 27, 2024. Addressing Year 2 students specializing in Agricultural Law, CPA Mutunga provided insights into various topics including the historical background of AFC, its legal framework as per the AFC Act, service points, agricultural loan structures, different loan products and services (such as livestock and fisheries loans, seasonal crop loans, machinery loans, agro-processors loans, and agribusiness loans), collateral requirements, evaluation processes, the 5C’s of credit, and remedies for financiers. The lecture served as a valuable opportunity for students to gain practical knowledge and understanding of agricultural financing practices and their legal implications.
