Expanding Horizons

Chuka University was honored to host a delegation from the University of Jamestown, North Dakota, USA, at the School of Nursing and Public Health. The aim of the visit was to explore avenues for potential collaboration between the two institutions. Key areas of interest included student and faculty exchange programs, joint research initiatives, character and leadership development, medical outreach in rural communities, and opportunities for adjunct lecturing and co-supervision.
The visiting team was led by Dr. Christopher Hoke, Chief Information Officer at the University of Jamestown, Professor Tala Haj, Micah Hoke, Kelly (from the Nursing Department), and Reverend Samuel Murigu.
Chuka University’s delegation was led by Prof. Jonah Nyaga Kindiki, (Deputy Vice- Chancellor (Administration, Finance, Planning & Development). Other members present included Prof. Gilbert Mbaka Nduru (DVC Academic & Research), Dr. Samwel Chege, Registrar (Academic Affairs), CPA; Dr. John Thuranira, Finance Officer, Prof. Lucy Gitonga (Dean, School of Nursing and Public Health), Dr. Dorothy Kagendo, Mr. Stephen Kainga, and other esteemed members of faculty and administration.
During the visit, the delegation toured key university facilities, including the science laboratories, skills laboratory, KMTC campus, P.C.E.A. Church, and the School of Nursing and Public Health. The tour was followed by comprehensive discussions focused on formulating a roadmap for institutional collaboration.
Chuka University looks forward to building a strong and collaborative partnership with the University of Jamestown, one that will foster academic exchange, professional development, and impactful community engagement.
